Sacramento NWR Headquarters and Visitor Center

Traveling north or south on I-5:

  1. Take Exit 595 for Road 68 (9.1 miles north of Maxwell, or 8.3 miles south of Willows)
  2. Go north on Hwy 99W (1.7 miles)
  3. Turn right into Sacramento NWR
  4. Follow signs to Visitor Parking

Sacramento NWR Hunter Check Station

Check station is approximately 9.5 miles south from Willows, and 10.2 miles north from Maxwell.
From Interstate 5:

  1. Take Exit 595 for Road 68 (8.3 miles south of Willows, or 9.2 miles north of Maxwell)
  2. Travel 1 mile east on Road 68
  3. Turn right at Check Station gate

Sacramento NWR Spring Trails Parking Lot 

Open February 15-June 30 (delayed opening due to flooding is possible, check Alerts on homepage)

From Interstate 5:

  1. Take Exit 595 for Road 68 (8.3 miles south of Willows, or 9.2 miles north of Maxwell)
  2. Travel approximately 2.5 miles east on Road 68, past signs for the Sacramento NWR Hunter Check Station.
  3. The entrance to the parking lot will be on the right (you'll see a small kiosk as you approach).

Delevan NWR Wildlife Viewing

Limited to public road

Traveling north or south on I-5:

  1. Take Exit 586 for Maxwell Rd at town of Maxwell
  2. Go 3.5 miles east on Maxwell Rd
  3. Turn left on Four Mile Rd to drive along west boundary of the Refuge


Delevan NWR does not have any public viewing access, but may be seen from:
- Maxwell Road* (county-maintained road)
- Four Mile Road* (county-maintained road)
*Please use caution when viewing from public roads. They are open to public traffic, and may have soft shoulders.

Delevan NWR Hunter Check Station

Check station is approximately 5.6 miles northeast from Maxwell
From Interstate 5:

  1. Take Exit 586 for Maxwell Rd
  2. Travel 3.5 miles east on Maxwell Rd
  3. Turn left on Four Mile Road and travel 2.1 miles north
  4. Turn right at the Check Station gate

Colusa NWR Auto Tour and Walking Trails

Traveling north or south on Interstate 5:

  1. Take Exit 578 for Highway 20, in Williams
  2. Travel 6.7 miles east on Highway 20
  3. Turn right onto O'Hair Road
  4. Follow the road to the visitor area at Colusa NWR

Parts of Colusa NWR are also viewable via:

  1. The auto tour route and walking trail off of Highway 20. 
  2. From Abel Road (county-maintained road)*
  3. From Ohm Road (county-maintained road)*
  4. From Ware Road (county-maintained road)*

*Please be cautious when viewing from public roads as they are open to public traffic and may have soft shoulders. 

Colusa NWR Hunter Check Station

Check station is approximately 11.4 miles southeast from Williams (Hwy 20 exit) and 7.6 miles east from Husted Rd exit
From Interstate 5, heading south:

  1. Exit at Hwy 20
  2. Go 4.4 miles east on Hwy 20
  3. Go 5.5 miles south on Lonestar Rd
  4. Go 1.5 miles east on Ware Rd to Check Station gate

From Interstate 5, heading north:

  1. Exit at Husted Rd (9 miles north of Arbuckle)
  2. Go 1.2 miles north on Husted Rd
  3. Go 2.9 miles east on Abel Rd
  4. Go 2 miles south on Lonestar Rd
  5. Go 1.5 miles east on Ware Rd to Check Station gate

Sutter NWR Hunter Check Station

Check station is approximately 11.2 miles southwest of Yuba City
From Hwy 20, Yuba City:

  1. From Hwy 20 in Yuba City, head south on Hwy 99
  2. Go 5 miles south on Hwy 99
  3. Go 5.5 miles west on Oswald
  4. Turn left at Schlag Rd onto gravel road and continue 0.6 miles to Check Station

Sutter NWR Spring Trails

  1. Go 32.5 miles east on Hwy 20 to Yuba City
  2. Go 8 miles south on Hwy 99
  3. Go 5 miles west on Obanion

  1. Go 26.5 miles north on Hwy 99 toward Yuba City
  2. Go 5 miles west on Obanion

Traveling south on I-5:
  1. Exit at Hwy 32 at Orland
  2. Go 10 miles east on Hwy 32
  3. Go 8 miles south on Hwy 45
  4. Go 5.7 miles east on Ord Ferry Rd
  5. Go 2.1 miles south on Seven Mile Ln
  6. Turn right into Steve Thompson North Central Valley WMA/ Llano Seco Unit parking lot
