About Sue Cameron
With an expertise in terrestrial animals and extensive knowledge and experience in habitats across North Carolina, Sue’s primary responsibilities include fulfilling legal obligations under section 4 of the Endangered Species Act, including:
- Compiling and analyzing data used for decisions on which terrestrial animals receive Endangered Species Act protection.
- Developing and implementing recovery plans for threatened and endangered terrestrial animals.
- Reviewing the status of terrestrial animals protected by the Endangered Species Act to determine if such protections remain warranted.
Additionally, she manages grants to the state of North Carolina to conserve imperiled species, fulfilling responsibilities outlined in section 6 of the Endangered Species Act.
Finally, she provides technical expertise on 1) habitat restoration efforts with private landowners under the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Act; and 2) requisite review of federal projects under section 7 of the Endangered Species Act. Prior to her work for the Service, Sue spent several years working for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
