Section 7 Consultation
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) directs all Federal agencies to work to conserve endangered and threatened species and to use their authorities to further the purposes of the Act. Section 7 of the Act, called "Interagency Cooperation," is the mechanism by which Federal agencies ensure the actions they take, including those they fund or authorize, do not jeopardize the existence of any listed species.
Learn more about Section 7 of the Act mandates that federal agencies not jeopardize the existence of a species of destroy or adversely modify habitat critical to the recovery of a threatened or endangered species. Bryan works with federal agencies involved in energy production and delivery to help meet requisite environmental compliance under the Endangered Species Act. He brings ample experience working at the interface between fish, plants, and wildlife and hydropower, solar, natural gas- based energy production and delivery. He also works extensively with energy companies, providing guidance to how to reduce or eliminate their impacts to imperiled species. He also plays a significant role in ensuring obligations for fish and wildlife that are enshrined in hydropower licenses are fulfilled.
Bryan also has extensive experience implementing requirements under section 4 of the Endangered Species Act, including compiling and analyzing data used for decisions on which animals receive Endangered Species Act protection and implementing recovery actions for imperiled species.
