Volunteer Opportunities

School Field Trips

Join our environmental education team to help deliver field trips on the refuge and in classrooms. Help children discover the wonderful natural world around us. Training and materials provided. Contact ella_weber@fws.gov.

Trail Maintenance

Love getting outside and getting your hands dirty? We are always looking for volunteer to help with trail maintenance including trimming vegetation, fixing loose boards and handrails, removing snow, clearing sand, and more. Contact ella_weber@fws.gov.

Visitor Center

Looking for a regular shift staffing the refuge visitor center? Talk with the public, create a welcoming environment, and respond to frequently asked questions. Training and shadowing opportunities provided with experienced volunteers and staff. Contact jean_adams@fws.gov.

Employment Opportunities

Recreation Assistant / Fee Collector

Join the visitor services team as a gatehouse fee collector. Working the gatehouse is a great way to gain experience with public outreach, pass sales, and customer service all while building knowledge about federal lands management. Additional opportunities to work with other departments, including assisting with nature-based programs and restoration projects. Requires weekend hours. E-mail jean_adams@fws.gov.
