As the northernmost point of the Hawaiian islands, you can see miles of the gorgeous mountain range and coastline of Kaua‘i's north shore, which provides a beautiful backdrop for wildlife photography or a family photo. Each year, thousands of migratory birds use Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge for nesting, foraging, or resting. Those birds include Laysan albatross, red-footed boobies, brown boobies, red-tailed and white-tailed tropicbirds, great frigatebirds, wedge-tailed shearwaters, and Pacific golden plovers. Whale season is October/November-May (peak season is January through February).
