Each year, thousands of migratory birds use Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge for nesting, foraging, or resting. Those birds include Laysan albatross, red-footed boobies, brown boobies, red-tailed and white-tailed tropicbirds, great frigatebirds, wedge-tailed shearwaters, and Pacific golden plovers.
