Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge is in Sherwood, Oregon, about 15 miles south of downtown Portland. In the foreground is a bioswale that absorbs runoff from the parking lot. A bioswale is a manmade, gently sloped, vegetation-filled depression designed to remove pollution from surface runoff water.
