Then-volunteer Caroline Cheung Deacy, with pilot Kevin Van Hatten, fits a tranquilized bear with a GPS collar at Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge in 2012-13. Deacy later became a seasonal biotech at the Alaska refuge.
