Carson wandering skippers are federally listed as endangered. This species of butterfly has a historical range from Carson River in the south to Honey Lake in the north. These butterflies live in alkali meadows and use salt grass as their host plant. Land development, invasive plants, grazing, and changes in hydrology pose challenges to recovery.
