ʻAkiapōlāʻau

The ʻakiapōlāʻau (Hemignathus wilsoni) - a small yellow bird with a dramatically curved beak - is the only bird in Hawaii that fills the niche of the woodpecker. It uses its smaller bottom mandible for pecking into the tree like a woodpecker and then pries out insects with its long curved top bill.
